FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Update 2006-

Even America has history!
The story behind the song, America, I Hear You Singing
“…of all the patriotic songs I have to choose from, the song you wrote "America, I Hear You Singing" is my favorite…”
ASCAP writer Barberi Paull Feit has written the music and lyrics to many patriotic songs. She has written musical plays,
choral and instrumental music on the theme, passionate to tell the America story.
Barberi traces her family back to the first settlers in America and, as she tells us, she grew up in a family in which the
spirit of America was strong. She made her own commitment to America.
Almost from the day she wrote America, I Hear You Singing it got attention both in the U.S. and abroad. Another of her songs,
The American Dream, was a close second. But after the September 11th attack on America, America, I Hear You Singing became a
sensation.
“I was touched,” Barberi says. “It was time when all of us wanted to do something to help. I never dreamed I’d help in this way.
The song travelled everywhere, as only a song can. Choral directors wrote to tell me how much they appreciated having the
wonderful song for their performances. Young people and their teachers wrote to tell me that they were using the song in their
fund-raising efforts. Community leaders were using America, I Hear You Singing when making video cassettes to send in support to
our military.
Enthusiasm for the song has continued to this day.
