Dear All:
A writer's work centers on a theme. What is the theme in my work? It may not be easy to detect. I write in a number of forms - fiction, non-fiction, musical composition, lyrics. Within this body of work I seem to cover different subjects. For example, one of my books, Love and Dreams, tells about friendship and the world of New York society.
Another book, The Angel Chronicles: The Guardian Angels Books I-V by The Angel Auberon describes the beginning of human life on this earth and of the angels' concern for human beings that resulted in their forming an assembly of Guardian Angels. One of the electronic\concrete ballets I've composed, Time, evokes an atmosphere of the seasons and the natural world. The choral works are generally inspirational. My eNewsletter, The Love Letter is clearly about love.
Nonetheless there is a theme running through. One of my friends pointed to it when he was commenting on Love and Dreams. He said Love and Dreams is ". . . human life beautifully observed." Then he went on to say, "Actually, Barberi, everything you write about - the passage of time, coincidence, love and the other relationships we have, our hopes and dreams continually creating what will lie ahead - even the angels as they represent the invisible world, which we also consider - everything you write is about the life we live and our desire to understand it. Your work concerns itself with observations of human life. . . imaginatively retold, and a respect for love as the thing that makes everything else possible."
My friend didn't leave much for me to say about my work. But what does remain to be expressed is my appreciation for your having so warmly welcomed my music through the years, and now my books and music CDs. To all - my readers, listeners and surfers of the Internet - for your interest and enthusiasm -- my thanks to you.
Sincerely,
