Barberi and I first met when she was composing a work for ballet. I was assigned to manage the performance. The chance meeting led to our long alliance. I manage her work - the musical theater pieces, the ballets and multi media events, concerts and songs. When Barberi turned to writing fiction, her books became part of my responsibility. When she founded Illumina, she appointed me Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief.

Barberi had planned to inaugurate her reach as an author by writing works of historical fiction anchored in New York society. The goal was - and is - to illuminate the inside lives of human beings through books and music, to amplify the readers understanding and awareness of possibility. As she was designing the historical fiction, Love and Dreams, however, she found herself in the midst of angels rising. It was as if an enormous angel had pushed through the door of the office insisting that she begin instead with a myth based in angelic legend.

Barberi finds people extraordinary. Still she isn't at all afraid of writing in the language of the fantastic, of writing about angels and ghosts and of the others who so wonderfully inhabit the imagination. That is how The Angel Chronicles: The Guardian Angels Books I-V by the Angel Auberon and its companion music CD, Angel Music, came to be written first.

When the angel book and CD were complete, Barberi was able to return to New York society and to the book originally planned, Love and Dreams. It was published in 2004.
